Because of its short ATA, the SAS Scorpii tends to be more maneuverable among the brushes, short trees and undulation of terrain while you’re perhaps kneeling, waiting and watching for game.

SAS Scorpii also allows you to be faster on the draw, however, though you’d find accuracy with this bow sufficient and even somewhat impressive for its size, you will have to put some care into refining your adjustments on your sights with the smaller Allen wrench provided.

Just get out the door with your SAS Scorpii and do some target adjustment for increments of 10 starting at 20 yards. You’ll be making the adjustments with each sight needle corresponding to your target distance. You’d have the usual five sight needles to adjust.

While we’re on the sight, don’t forget there’s a small capsule with this circular sight that tells you the level of your position. You’d have to use a strong glue to keep it in its trough in the structure.

You’ll notice that when drawing the string of your compound bow, it starts off slightly hard and, as you reach midway in your draw length, it eases off so that it’s easy to hold the draw. That’s what’s great about compound bows, it’s pulley system makes the draw easier than the recurve.

At a Let Off of 68%, close to 70%, the SAS Scorpii certainly has the umph as the arrow flies off from its rest as it flies off at about 260 feet per second. That’s at least what the box says. Still, the experience of drawing and firing arrows on the Scorpii feels solid and strong.

Interestingly, I find the compound bow to be heavier than the recurve bow of the same size at 3.3 pounds. It should help that the SAS Scorpii is smaller and lighter than other more expensive models. Weight might help in stability though.

In game hunting, ease of equipment handling and forgiveness surpasses speed. You want stability more than anything else.

However, the SAS Scorpii’s targeting system with its brightly colored five pin sight with its illuminating fiber optics, its peep sight, the arrow rest and an optional finger trigger accessory makes this bow easily accurate.

You’ll have to make sure you do your due diligence to go through these adjustments to fit the bow to you. That’s one unique characteristic of this sport. A bow functions best when it’s used by the archer it fits. 

So, when you’re in the brushes and brambles and tree stands, you’d want something you can rely on to readily put down the game efficiently, shortening the suffering of the game. The SAS Scorpii is able to do that.

Right when you grab hold on to the SAS Scorpii and notice how it feels in your hand, you’ll notice how pleasantly solid it is. It feels strong and durable to hold, coming from its compressed ABS limbs.

This compound bow model from SAS has a brace height of 7 and a half inches. It won’t be much of a bother when you’re wearing a plain shirt and a camo hood. But, if you’d wear a jacket, which is most often the case, this brace height might be touching your bowstring. 

The SAS Scorpii’s basic core components of the riser, the limb pocket, the limb, the axle and the cables feel you’ve got something you can take out into hunting for game.
