iGlow Camouflage Hunting Crossbow Review

I can still think back to when I first started to hunt. Me and my dad and his brother, my favorite uncle BJ, would go out into the woods and have a great time. My dad was a hardcore rifle hunter, believing the old adage “more firepower is always the preferred solution” but my uncle as a different breed.

He was an archery hunter to the core, and it was from him that I first learned to sheer joy and Zen-like peace that comes from being a well-trained and well-equipped bow hunter. He bought me my first crossbow, a youth model, for my birthday when I was 13, and I have been a die-hard archery hunter ever since.

Over the years I have owned many different brands and styles of crossbows, and I have to say that this camouflage hunting crossbow from iGlow was one that caught my eye as soon as I saw it. It offers a great shooting experience that is not easy to find in a crossbow at this price point.

This isn’t to say that there aren’t some minor issues that should be talked about. In fact, let’s take a moment to look a little better at this crossbow to determine if it’s as great a value as it appears at first glance. 

The body of the crossbow is nigh strength aluminum, which gives you the durability that you need with the lightweight that you desire.

This, along with the fiberglass limb means that you will be able to carry this crossbow all day without experiencing the same arm fatigue that you get with heavier all steel-based units. Less arm fatigue means greater control and accuracy when it comes time to bring the crossbow to bear on a target.

The finish of the body, as well as the limb, are high polish so that not only does the crossbow look great, but it will perform smoothly every single throw. You’ll also notice that the smooth, non-molded grip will give you a better carry experience when traveling through the woods or over other rough terrain. 

The unit features an auto safety cocking mechanism as well as includes a rope cocking device to help you draw back easily and safely. One of the first things that you will notice when you first start using the weapon is that the draw back is so smooth, you may think that the string isn’t properly tightened.

This is due to the excellent design of the crossbow; you usually only see this type of smoothness on units that are sold a much higher price point.

The base package includes the weapon, the rope cocking device, the scope, and a pack of seven bolts to get you started right away. There is also an expanded package available which includes everything in the standard package with the following adjustments:

A 4x32 scope is provided instead of the 4x20

12 pc 16” carbon fiber bolts instead of the 7 pc 16” aluminum

In addition, the following is also included:

Quick detach quiver

Stringer

3-piece triple blade broadheads

2 pc 14” aluminum bolts
