My brothers and I are very close and often times invest in active gear and outdoor weapons, something we’ve all had in common since childhood. There are three of us, and a family tradition of ours that we have created is for us to go on outdoor adventures to re-establish and strengthen the bond between us.

Nothing ends a sibling rivalry like starring possible death in the face together and conquering the elements. We take pride in the fact that if there ever is an event of catastrophic proportions, we would get together and be able to “survive the apocalypse!”

We have all practiced survival tactics since childhood, thanks to our dad; we’ve always enjoyed taking time out from the busy city life, to sleep under the stars and reconnect with nature. Also, maybe even destroy a few things, but that’s neither here nor there.

While camping or hiking, or any of the other frequent survivalist journeys we have been on, we come across wildlife all of the time. Sometimes that wildlife is admired from a distance, other times where it’s permitted, it goes on our small yet efficient grill.

I sometimes grow weary of certain areas we adventure through that may have some kind of alpha predator attacking, and us being caught off guard. So we are also skilled in archery, firearm use and safety, and other defensive practices that are good for getting out of sticky situations.

Although we have trained in these areas, I’d prefer not to blow the head off of an animal who’s just defending its territory we may have trespassed upon. Therefore, in the areas of protecting ourselves from wildlife, we chose a less lethal approach than firearms. Compound bows.

One of the best compound bows and the brand we frequently use is the Bear Archery Cruzer Lite Compound bow. What’s so engaging about the Cruzer Lite is its ease of use, reasonableness in price and advanced tunability. We each have one, and our kids because it doesn’t require much strength to deliver a fatal blow.

The adjustable 27 1/8-inch axle to axle lengths design is integrated with a string stop system which keeps from injury of the arms from snapping of the string. It is compact and sustains a suitable movement for those who are quick or at a learning speed of pull and release.

The Cable slide system is older and includes a 45-pound maximum draw weight with a draw cycle of 12 inches and draw length of 27 inches.

The aluminum riser is tuned on a duplicating lathe with weight reducing layouts and precisely tuned features. The Cruzers riser and handle constructions are the strongest designs and most precise with older and more efficient designs which ensure accuracy and ease of use.

Although this is an outstanding bow, it didn’t come with arrows when we opened its packaging. With all of its amazing features, we really didn’t expect them to. Therefore, it’s good for you to purchase arrows that are up to your caliber and that you’re comfortable with using with this bow unit. 

According to the International Bowhunting Organization (IBO), your arrows should be no less than 5 grains to every pound of the weight of the draw. To avoid dry firing and injury you should review the advisement of the IBO and consider your arrow options.
